As a result, real estate demand and prices have steadily climbed. They are still at a significant discount to what is offered in other beautifully politically stable countries in the world, like the United States and the Caribbean.   
 
Costa Rica is often called the "Switzerland of the Americas," largely due to its stable government, which abolished the army in 1948.  This helped pave the way for Costa Rica's current desirable investment status that it boasts today, the government allocated would-be military dollars towards education, infrastructure and health care.  Today, Costa Rica has one of the highest literacy rates in the Americas (96%) and the best infrastructure of any Central American or Caribbean country.

World class sport fishing and an 18 hole championship golf course are just five minutes by car from Jaco.  A broad selection of restaurants (fine dining to casual elegance), nightclubs and bars other an array of opportunities to view beautiful sunsets.
 
 
Location:  Central American between Nicaragua to the North, Panama to the South (between 8 and 11 degrees north of the equator), Caribbean Sea to the East and the Pacific Ocean to the West.
 
Getting There:  Costa Rica has International ports on both coasts; Air, Ocean and Freight Transportation Services.  Costa Rica is only 3 hours flying  (to San Jose, CR's capital city) from many major cities in the U.S. (Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston, Charlotte, Miami, Orlando, etc.) and only four hours from Washington DC and New York.  Many of these flights are non-stop, making a weekend trip to Costa Rica a possibility!

Property Rights:  Costa Rica law protects private ownership via a Public Registry of its land.  Most property is sold fee simple just like in the US.  Further, foreigners share equal property ownership rights!
 
Taxation:  There are NO capital gains in Costa Rica and the Property Tax rate is ONLY 0.25% on the declared value of the property.
 
Government:  One of the oldest democracies in the Americas, since 1889, and in 1948, the government abolished the army.  Furthermore, perpetual neutrality was proclaimed in 1983.
 
Medical:  Offers modern facilities comparable to the United States, at a fraction of the cost, and Jaco recently opened a new Clinic in 2006.
 
Moody's recently improved Costa Rica credit rating:  "Moody's based its decision on the improved fiscal status of the country, promoted mainly by restrictions on spending which allowed for a larger surplus."
 
Climate:   Maybe the most inviting characteristic of Costa Rica is its climate.  In the Central Valley, the temperature ranges from the high 60's to mid-80's year round.  On the Central Pacific Coast, where the bulk of the developments we will be promoting is centered, the temperature ranges from the low 70's to the high 80's to low 90's year round.
